A GUIDE FROM OUR WORKSHOP
How to care for your watch
A well-maintained watch lasts for generations. These are the rules we share with our customers every day — simple, but they make all the difference.
Water
- Never operate the crown while the watch is wet or under water — it is the most sensitive entry point.
- Water resistance is not forever: gaskets age. If you swim with your watch, have it checked every 1–2 years.
- After salt water, rinse the watch with fresh water and dry it with a soft cloth.
Shocks and magnets
- Avoid hard knocks and drops — especially with mechanical watches, whose movements are more delicate.
- Keep your watch away from strong magnets (speakers, magnetic bag clasps, tablets) — magnetisation ruins accuracy and requires demagnetising at a workshop.
Battery and movement
- Replace the battery as soon as the watch stops — a drained battery can leak and damage the movement.
- Mechanical and automatic watches need periodic servicing (cleaning + lubrication) — usually every 4–6 years, depending on the model.
- If your watch gains or loses noticeable time, don't adjust it yourself — bring it in for a free check.
Strap and cleaning
- Leather straps dislike water and heavy sweat — take the watch off for workouts, and replace the strap when it wears out (free fitting with us).
- Metal bracelets clean up with a soft cloth; for a deep clean, bring it to the workshop.
- Store your watch somewhere dry, away from direct sunlight — the original box is the ideal place.
Guidelines vary by model and movement — ask us about your specific watch any time.
